Hi,

if you have an Nvidia graphics card, please look here:

Have you fully updated your system:

Otherwise, it is a setting with Compiz which might causing the problem and you need to check out the Compiz Settings manager.

System settings > Preferences > Compiz Settings Manager

they don"t show for me either unless it's a program linked to an 'awn' applet.

when a program that is not part of your awn group is minimized, it's visually gone.

Hi,

maybe this is explained by the fact that in Windows 7 mode, you should/must add a top panel which you can also intellihide and it will show open/running apps!!.

If that is what you chaps mean!!.

See the first part of the guide which also talks about that:

i didn't know that - no wonder i been having so many issues. You would think that something like that would be incorporated automatically on install :!:

so for a functional 'win 7' look, you need to add a top panel ... like the 'gnome' look :|

pardon my ignorance but ... how do you add a second panel to the desktop :?:

Hi chaps,

right click the bottom panel > Dock Preferences > Preferences > Add Dock > Orientation > Top > Behaviour > Intellihide (assuming you want it hidden when not in use!)

i know about that feature ...
but i get a clone of the dock on bottom on top with all duplicate applets
... if i delete an applet from the top dock, i lose it also from the bottom dock also.
I end up with 2 cloned docks.

... as an added plus ... after reboot lost the zorin logo @ the bottom dock again :|

sorry for the sarcasm - but the last time i had so many issues with a distro was with a beta version of 'slackware'

As regards the animation try also this:

dconf editor>org>gnome>desktop>interface and untick "enable-animations".
