Can't run Live DVD

I downloaded and burned the Zorin OS Core 64 bit to a DVD disc and tried to run it on my computer. I am able to get to the menu and I hit enter when it says run live dvd. It shows the blue screen with 2 circles spinning, but only uses the top left side of my monitor and isn't stretched out (don't know if that is important). It then goes to a black screen and stays frozen like that. I have tried running it in safe mode, using the "nomodeset" command, and going directly to the installation, but all yield similar results (the safe mode option freezes at the blue screen with 2 circles after about a minute).

Here are my specs:
AMD Athlon 64x2 processor
3 GB ram
NVIDIA Geforce 6150 LE graphics card

I also tried running the disc on my laptop with only 1 processor, and it worked without any problems.

hi,

did you burn the DVD at the slowest possible speed, if you didn't, you will get read/write errors and symptoms like you are now having.

I can only suggest you reburn the disk at the slowest possible speed as your specs are more than adequate for Zorin 6 Core.

I re-burned a disc at the slowest possible speed using imgburn, but the slowest speed my drive supports is x4. I get the same problem. I was thinking of just trying the lite version and see if that works.

Hi,

have you tried the old and newly burnt disks on a different PC and do either of them boot??, it may be your burner??, how old is it??.

If they don't boot on a different PC, we can sumise that it is maybe the brun process, you could try a different burn application like Ashampoo Burning Free:

(Just don't sign up for anything; otherwise it is free, its ad sponsored)

Hi,

if the disks are okay then maybe it is something on your PC that the disk doesn't like, try Unetbootin and install via a USB stick:

WM he has an NVIDIA card. Do you think that it may have something to do with the problem?

Hi MV,

he tried with "nomodset" so that should have countered any problem with Nvidia!!. That said, it is not impossible!!.
