Hello ewereyone.

Have been running zorin 5 for some months now.
Like it a lot, Lots of fun stuff Like Simple CompizConfig.

Now i suddenly have the urge to add a splash screen picture to the grub bootloader.

But where is /boot/grub/menu.lst? I edited the file in Ubuntu 10.04 with succes, but it seems to be missing in Zorin 5.

So my Question is: How do i add a splash picture to the grub menu.

Would be grateful for answers.

Hi,

start your PC in recovery mode and run "dpkg", activate "Network" before you start, it will only work with a cable connection. Reboot afterwards.

Hi and thanks for for the may answers. (sorry for the delay)

I think i edited the grub. cfg on my Fujitsu Esprimo (something to do with acpi)
Howewer.

This is a dell 630 im using now, with docking station and a higher resolution screen (vga).
What the boot process is returning now is: can not load v86d, make sure it is installed properly.

It also returns: Starting Runlevel 5....fail

Zorin though, starts and runs properly

It seems i have messed it up.
Way over my head on this one.

Grateful if you could point me in the right direction.

You are thanking a guy, whose posts are deleted. I wonder why? He was helpful, and I too thanked him. Now he is gone. Maybe I should go to another distro and another forum, which might be more friendly. :(

Your signature is quite alright! I've been reading all new posts and bkotter had been arguing with Azorin. I just went to that bug report page and that was in February, but Ubuntu was released in April. Well, I don't know. I haven't seen anyone being deleted in Ubuntu or Mint or Crunchbang forums, which I like to visit often. The Mods there block further discussion, but don't delete poster's comments. The decision is up to you, but won't users be simply afraid to come in?

By the way, there is no menu.lst, but grub.cfg, and if you want to modify it, you should go to /etc/grub.d/40_custom. You must not modify the grub.cfg in /boot.

Once you added to the 40-custom, you have to do sudo update-grub, otherwise you won't see it. :)
