Thanks.

You can use terminal commands like
Code:
sudo apt-get autoclean
sudo apt-get autoremove
sudo apt-get clean

or you can use the "janitor" through ubuntu-tweak.

Thanks madvinegar. Where exactly is janitor located?

It is inside "ubuntu-tweak". I think ubuntu tweak is preinstalled in Zorin. If not, download it from here:

MD how do you remember these:

Code:
sudo apt-get autoclean
sudo apt-get autoremove
sudo apt-get clean

It's not so difficult if you use them often.
Just one note for janitor. It is advisable always to keep one or two of the older kernels just in case something goes wrong with your current kernel.

Hi Chris,

in a terminal:

sudo apt-get install bleachbit

Bleachbit has two icons, one as root and one as normal user.

MV's suggestion will work but I recommend Bleachbit as the autoremove command might take out a dependency that you need!!!!.

Image Bleachbit as root.

Should all options be checked for both?

Chris.

I did the opposite to this......... Just for clarity, Admin-Amir posted a very good post on Bleach-bit - run Bleach-Bit root first, then Bleach-bit 'standard', from now own-wards i'll do his way.

It removed 170 MB approx of junk.

How often do you do it........once a day or week.........?

Regards!

Chris.

Downloaded and installed the latest release, Bleach Bit 1.4 (for Ubuntu 14.04), on my Zorin 9.1 installation.

Opened Bleach Bit As Admin, checked all of the boxes except the 3 mentioned here, then ran Bleach Bit As Addmin (no issues).

Opened Bleach Bit, checked all of the boxes except the 3 mentioned here, then ran Bleach Bit and incurred the following errors:

E: Could not open lock file /var/cache/apt/archives/lock - open (13: Permission denied)
E: Could not open lock file /var/lib/dpkg/lock - open (13: Permission denied)

Did I do something wrong? Should I clear these errors? If so, how?

Thanks for any help.
