Hi All:

I just came accross the Calligra Office Suite. It got mixed reviews but has a lot of interesting functionaliallty that I'm interested in checking out. I was wondering if I could install the suite on Zorin. I've heard that one could install KDE apps as well as gnome or deb, but those were extracted from the Ubuntu or Zorin repositories. What I want to do hear is download Calligra (version 2.5.2) (about 120 MB) from its' own repository, or ppa, at the KDE project. It comes in a .tar.gz package.

I'm not totally sure how to install it in Zorin, so any help there would be appreciated. But before I head down that path I'd like to know if it is advisable to even try to install it or whether I would risk corrupting my entire Zorin install and having to reinstall. Thanks for any help.

Hi,

you can download the deb (K)Ubuntu PPA version from here:

http://pkgs.org/ubuntu-12.04/kubuntu-ba ... l.deb.html

Download the "all-deb" package and you can install it with the "gdebi" package installer.

In a terminal:

sudo apt-get install gdebi

Once downloaded, you must activate the PPA:

Enable the repository:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:kubuntu-ppa/backports

Update the package index:

sudo apt-get update

Install calligra deb package:

sudo apt-get install calligra
