Thank Wolfman

My pen and HDD will not boot up after install the Driver

Now reformat my 16gb Pen with Universal USB Installer ISO.32bit version web page.

When I boot the pen with OS, do I install the Ati driver 1st or do I need to install fglrx?

Or do you recommend other way to install Ati driver

thank

Hi,

try starting your PC in recovery mode and select "Drop to root shell prompt". You can then add the command and it should install at that level. YOU MUST ACTIVATE "NETWORK" BEFORE YOU DROP TO ROOT. A cable connection only, do not try and use Wifi!!.

sudo apt-get install fglrx

Hi,

if you cannot see a recovery menu, you must press "Esc" as soon as the PC starts which will change the menu and you should see "Recovery" as the 2nd option in the list, do oyou have Windows installed too??.

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/RecoveryMode

Try my method for installing the drivers instead of the link as it is easier!!.

WM I think he has a live USB. This is why he does not see a grub menu.

Other than that, if you want my opinion it is better to keep the open drivers for ATI. And I can tell him how to get better temps.

Hi MV,

yes! I think you are right, it just dawned on me and I was about to explain that to him.

If you are using a "Live CD", you will not have a recovery menu!!. if you have an installed version with only Linux, then press "Esc". You cannot install the drivers to a live CD!!!.
