Hey fellow Linux users. I installed Zorin OS 6 earlier today and recently booted it and it froze completely. It doesn't matter where I'm at, and it just freezes. Not responsive at all. Can you guys help me? Thanks!

Hi and welcome to the forum,

does your PC meet the minimum requirements for ZorinOS?:

For the GNOME based versions (non Lite):
700 MHz x86 processor
3GB of Hard Drive space
376 MB of system memory (RAM)
Graphics card capable of 640x480 resolution
Sound card

For the LXDE based versions (Lite):
266 MHz x86 processor
2GB of Hard Drive space
128 MB of system memory (RAM)
Graphics card capable of 640x480 resolution
Sound card

Have you tried booting into recovery mode and running "dpkg", see this guide and the section about broken files:
(Network cable required!!!!!)

Yes. My computer is able to run Zorin. It may be an issue with my battery, because Zorin works fine if my computer is plugged in and my battery is fully charged. By the way, my computer is an Acer Aspire 5250, 2 GB RAM, x64 running Windows 7 and ZorinOS 6 Core 64-bit.

Hi,

sounds like you already have the answer, if the PC is not being supplied with power, it will stop functioning correctly!!, always make sure the battery is fully charged if you are mobile, if you are at homer, run the battery down and remove it, it will help its length of life!!.

It actually didn't fix the problem. Somebody said it must be a driver problem. How can I get into Zorin to install the troublesome driver?

Hi,

do you have an Nvidia graphics card, if you do, please see this guide and use the PPA:

If you have an ATI (AMD) card:

System Settings > Hardware > Additional Drivers > Recommended > Activate

Is your system up-to-date:

Maybe it is an overheating problem.
Please post the result of
Code:
lspci

and
Code:
lspci -nnk | grep -iA3 vga

and
Code:
sudo lshw -C display

You may want to install lm-sensors
Code:
sudo apt-get install lm-sensors

Restart and then
Code:
sudo sensors-detect

You reply "yes" to all questions.
And then run in terminal
Code:
sensors

If you like you can write in terminal
Code:
watch -n1 sensors

and you can watch in live mode your laptop's temps.
