No sound in my hcl laptop

I have just installed Zorin on my laptop. looks great but one problem :( NO Sound is audible.. I am completely new to linux. help me out plz!

Hi,

do you have the Medibuntu repo active?:

viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1852

Once done, install these packages via a terminal:

sudo apt-get install non-free-codecs faac flac

If you are still having problems, see this thread:

viewtopic.php?f=6&t=2023

I tried it all, swarfendor437, Wolfman; it simply isn't coming!
during start up, i hear a faint sound, simply non-appreciable! then its all mute!
i installed all the packages as suggested by Wolfman but... Thank u ny wayz.. i'll keep fishing around.. lets c!

Hi,

have you checked all the sliders in the volume settings manager and that the correct hardware is being addressed.
