computer running very slow

have had a message graphic card low on mem or words to that affect
i have uni stalled compiz and that has helped a little
is there a way to reinstall right over the top of zorin ultimate or am i going to be facing a complete reinstall
this started this morning after i did a look for additional drivers and i installed the recommended one for my system have done same thing with both ubuntu and mint and never had any trouble,
any help i don't really want to reinstall

if you didn't use this PPA:

viewtopic.php?f=5&t=2490

go ahead and do so, it will overwrite the drivers you already have.
