Try Booting with the second menu option (Recovery mode) and boot using safe graphics. Alternatively edit the boot loader in the first menu by pressing 'e' (or is it Tab - memory ain't what it used to be) and enter in the command line box that opens 'nomodeset' - without the single quotes and see if it will boot that way.

I installed it again on my hard drive this time it booted up all good
Then I installed all updates available from software centre
Then the same problem appears
i tried booting into safe graphics and it booted but in a wierd resolution
Please guide me on how to fix it
