Replacing a windows program favorite

Have use SCREAMER RADIO for years with windows to record Old Time Radio shows from streaming sites...I have installed Radio Tray and it plays beautifully but will not record....Tried to figure out recording audio streams with VLC but the "help" mainly adresses Video stuff...Any suggestions?.....Charlie

What I do is to play the radio station in VLC, By opening VLC selecting - Media - Open Network Stream - then pasting in the station stream address and - Play - , then to record press the red record button and again to stop. The recording is saved to the Music folder.
