Have a 64 bit HP withno speed problem till I look at files

When loading files the operaton takes 15 mins or more to load 5000 files that are 700 megs or so...Windows took half a second to look at the files...Is there another program whick is speeder...To copy 2500 file this thing says 3 hours....Charlie

It is the same drive as the OS is on...Jpgs are in the pictures file and trying to break the files into smaller parts...I am transferring 537 MB it says 3 hours 30 minutes....Charlie

Hi,

are the files in your home folder/partition or in the root folder/partition??.

If you are transfering files within root, it will require root privileges!!.

The folder are in the "pictures" place when you go to "Places then Pictures in the GNO menu...They transfer at 32 KBPS...Hours to move them...
I did not have to sign in to move them....Charlie
