[SOLVED] Screen brightness adjuster won't work, Mac 5.5

I'm enjoying running Zorin on my mac! It seems to be working just fine! But, there is a problem with the F1/F2 keys functioning as the brightness adjuster. It shows the indicator in the top right hand corner that indicates my brightness on the screen should be changing, but the brightness doesn't change. Can I get some help please? It's sucking up my battery life :?
