[SOLVED] "cd' change directory command

I like Seamonkey for the way it handles cookies. It is not in the current Ubuntu repositories. I also tried Iceape for Sid, Squeeze and Wheezy, and all for some reason have dependency issues.

I downloaded and extracted Seamonkey. It is in /home/downloads. I can run it from there, but would like to get it in the proper directory. I read up on the "cd" command and then tried it, with no luck. I am missing something. I think the Seamonkey folder should go in /usr/lib with the executable or a shell script going in /usr/bin. I would also like to integrate it into my menu.

I even tried drag and drop, but root will not give me the permission for that.

Anyone have a tutorial for this? I am running 32 bit Zorin 6.0. Any tips/help would be appreciated. I admit, I still don't have the Linux file structure down completely.

Hi jymm,

I would go this route:

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SeaMonkey

and add the PPA from here:

https://launchpad.net/~joe-nationnet/+a ... monkey-dev

Then you can install it direct via the terminal or Synaptic.

Thanks guys. Adding the PPA did th trick. I was able to install Seamonkey with Synaptic. Thanks also just for the info. I now understand the chown command bettter, I believe it means "change owner". That is something I have never read in the command line tutorials. Sometimes you need to really dumb things down for us Linux boneheads. Again thanks.
