[SOLVED] Printer installation

4. I have experienced this problem with Ubuntu 12.04. The system correctly detects the printer as ML-1670 series, but does not narrow it down to ML-1675. I then downloaded unified driver from Samsung and run the autorun script from my desktop. This also only offers the general ML-1670 series. I currently have the Samsung unified driver and default driver that came Zorin showing up in system settings. Unfortunately, the printer prints out a firmware error message. Mint 14 had no printer issues.

Code:

INTERNAL ERROR – Please use the proper driver
POSITION : 0x0 (0)
SYSTEM   : h6wfw_5.49/x1_op
LINE         : 180
VERSION : SPL 5.49 10-20-2010

Thanks. Just a quick question. I updated my repositories with

http://www.bchemnet.com/suldr/

But that thread did not specify how to get the keyring and I am rusty on the terminal commands. Can you fill the missing link?

Can you also tell me how do I check which unified driver I should be using? Version 2, 3 or 4.?

Thanks

Hi,

paste this command in a terminal and enter your password when asked:

sudo wget -O - http://www.bchemnet.com/suldr/suldr.gpg | sudo apt-key add -

(The above was taken from the link you posted!!)

Following the above I have ended up with three drivers. Two from the software centre, ML-1670 ML-1670-2 and the third from the Samsung Unified driver called ML-1670spl. Neither work. Perhaps I should remove them before trying your fix.???

Additionally, I find that when I highlight the other two to make them as default I cannot check mark. Its left permenantly on the Samsung unified driver.

I also forgot to ask, did you check and see if there are any suggested or recommended packages, open Synaptic and search for the packages then right click them one after the other and check with a right mouse click, if you see something suggested/recommended, you should install it anyway!!.
