[SOLVED] Scanner problem

As with the printer issue this seems symptomatic of Ubuntu 12.04, as both printer and scanner worked perfectly in Mint 14. I am finding neither simplescan or XSANE work. The attached screenshot is the current error output.

Thanks. That solution got Xsane up and working. simplescan is still refusing but I am happy.

Hi,

if you have a HP printer/scanner, install the package "hplip-gui" and use the HP Toolbox tool!!.

Please give hardware details when asking such questions!.

The printer is a Samsung ML-1675 monochrome laser jet printer.
