Missing sound and video area on menu

Hello. :)

I installed Zorin 6 on a friend's puter yesterday and she really likes it (so do I). Everything was going fine until this morning, she installed a few programs **** she doesn't remember which ones.

I also think she or something might have tweaked the menu. Here's the problem. When I click on the start bar and type, for example, "VLC", into it, the VLC icon shows up. Same for Avidemux, Rhythmbox, etc.

But when I click on "Sound and Video", I get a blank menu bar/area and no 'back' button. Every other category of the menu bar works, both with shortcuts and navigation. So, something is 'hiding' or not proffering that 'Sound & Video' option.

When I use terminal and sudo alacarte, everything shows up like normal.

:?: <--- me, very confused

Hi,

read through these guides for one:

viewtopic.php?f=5&t=2054

and if you have an Nvidia card:

viewtopic.php?f=5&t=2490

For missing objects in the main menu, right click on the Zorin button > Edit and you can edit entries to the menu at will. Clicking on the list on the left of the menu will show each sub group and you just need to add a tick in the box!,
