I need Help Installing My HP309a Printer

gregoryshock125

Sun Jun 02, 2013 3:38:46 am

I am trying to install my printer driver for my 309a HP printer, so that it will be capable of using the duplex mode. I have tried to install this before, but I have ran into many issues.

The instructions for installing this printer is here:
http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/in ... index.html

I have gone with the Ubuntu 12.04 because Zorin is built on or with Ubuntu and thus is not on the list of operating systems.

Hi,

firstly, update your system fully per this guide:

viewtopic.php?f=5&t=2247

Secondly, install the package (after finishing updates!) "hplip-gui" and make sure your printer is connected and powered up.

Open the app "HPLIP-Toolbox" which you will find under Systems Tools > Preferences and start the app, it will guide you though the set-up process, there are a couple of similar icons so watch out for that!!.

If you are still getting a message about missing dependencies, look for them here:

http://pkgs.org/

and download them and install them to your system.

Let us know how you get on.

The error states you are missing 7 required dependencies.

but the only one it list is gcc
you can install that by running
"sudo apt-get install gcc"
and if I had to guess here are some of the other that it might need.
"sudo make install gcc make g++"
I don't know what else

It also states it cannot be installed to this OS! :!:

Which suggests madvinegars howto temporarily change the LSB from Zorin to Ubuntu! ;)

One quick note to the above.
In screenshot no2 of Wolfman, there is a button saying "Advanced options".
In case you cannot find your network printer automatically for whatever reason, open advanced options and set manually the IP of the printer. It will find it immediately.
