[SOLVED]:keep having to use overscan to fill screen

Hi all
I have been using Zorin for a while now with no major issues, but after deciding i had found the next best distro i decided to try it, didn't like it like i thought i would so i went back to zorin.
The install went smoothly like before and i used the hardware driver tab to install the drivers for my ATI Radeon 6870, i have since tried all of them but the same issue remains, when i logout or reboot i have to go to catalyst centre and use overscan (using the root option one gives same result) to fill the screen even though the slider is at 100% if i hit default then slide to 100% again and apply it works fine, or if i go into screen resolution in system settings, change the res down to something lower then go back to the res i want it will fill the screen again...untill the next reboot or logout.
I cant figure out what the problem is this time, i'm using a resolution of 1920x1080.

Any help greatly appreciated

Hi,

can you also tell us what version of Linux you are using, you can also try the drivers from Noobslab:

http://www.noobslab.com/2013/04/install ... rs-in.html

As usual, they come with a government health warning: "use at your own risk".

Hi All
Many thanks for the quick replies.
I couldnt remove the drivers as this leaves me with no sound and the gfx card fan running at full speed.
Whenever i tried to install the standard driver it kept failing, which meant i had to install a beta version, these installed without issue, whenever i checked after a reboot it said that the driver was installed but not activated, however this kept the fan at a low speed and gave me sound, but still the overscan issue.
I then installed the standard version which worked without issue after trying the beta, after a reboot i looked back in drivers tab and it says that driver is activated and in use, i then used overscan in catylst centre and after a half dozen reboots the screen is still filling the screen, so its a result.
I will mark this as solved although it was more by luck than by my skills :)

Im using zorin6 core btw.
