How do I get windows to RDP into windows Hyper-V using Zorin 7?

I have Zorin 7 set up in Hyper-V, which is a virtual machine I use to test and use different OS releases. I can't figure out how to set up Zorin to allow windows to RDP into it. The reason for this, is in RDP you will actually have the virtual machine in a true full screen mode, which just makes the experience much much better.

Hi,

try this:

http://www.liberiangeek.net/2013/04/que ... ntu-13-04/

This is somewhat old but should be useable:

Click on Zorin Menu > System Tools > Preferences > Desktop Sharing

Hope it helps.

I cannot clearly understand what you are trying to do.

You have a windows PC (lets name it PC1) and you have installed zorin7 in it via a virtual machine called Hyper-V. And you would like to remotely see the desktop of Zorin7 by using a second windows PC (PC2)?

I may be mistaking but I believe that RDP is a Microsoft thing.

If you want to see the Zorin PC from the Windows computer you have quite a few options.
1. VNC
2. x11 forwarding (this is probably what you should look into)
3. SSH server (this is my personal favorite, but it would only grant you CLI access)
4. I'm sure there are more I don't know about or can't remember. http://google.com may be able to help clarify.

Unfortunately xRDP doesn't work like Windows RDP...
I've been using x11VNC server running on Linux & connecting to it from a windows system to do what you're trying to do... BUT, since my recent change to Zorin, I can't get x11VNC to run. It seems to install ok, but the gui doesn't come up when I try to start it...

EDIT:

Wolfman's post above is the correct answer "Click on Zorin Menu > System Tools > Preferences > Desktop Sharing"
Enabling "Allow others to view your desktop" in Gnome Desktop Sharing 3.6.2 allowed my VNC viewer to connect. No more x11VNC...? :_)

As other already said, use VNC instead of RDP.
If you really want to use RDP you have two options:
- use VirtualBox instead of Hyper-V: VirtualBox supports remoting into the VMs through its own RDP server implementation
- use the experimental RDP server support in FreeRDP (www.freerdp.com); the problem here is that RDP server mode is still mostly undocumented

Hope this helps
