I had ubuntu 13.04 installed on my laptop, but decided to install zorin 7 instead. This was supposed to(in the install menu) delete/replace ubuntu. But when I click "about this computer" on my zorin desktop(bottom righthand tray) it says that it is ubuntu 13.04. Any guesses why this is so?

Hi,

did you completely wipe the Ubuntu home partition or did you leave it intact?.

If you mean this:

Zorin has Ubuntu as its base, do you have all the Zorin features available to you?.

If you want to update and keep your data intact, take a look here:

viewtopic.php?f=6&t=4848

and read the part about "mixing and matching"!!!!.

You might want to take a look here too:

Hi and thanks. Yes, it appears exactly as in the picture in your post. And during install I chose option 2 to "erase disk and install". This is all new to me...first date and all....didn't expect to see Ubuntu mentioned after installing Zorin, and figured I really screwed something up....whew! Thanks for the clarification.

Hi,

good to hear.

In the future, I would create seperate root and home partitions so if you have to do another install, you don't lose your data.

Have marked as solved!.
