Ok, here's one for ya!?

Got Zorin OS6 Ultimate on my laptop, found additional deb package for my Brother printer, installed as per instructions via pkgs.org and all works great!!

NOW

My daughters have Zorin OS6 Core on there netbooks (No Optical drive) so i followed the same procedure and see the windows box but get a message saying "printer not accessible", Is there something i need to do different as one is ultimate and the other Core?

Any ideas?

Hi Jim,

do you have Zorin 7 on your PC?, was the printer connected via a USB cable on your daughters Zorin 6 PC?, have you fully updated her PC?.

Did you install 32 bit support?:

Code:
sudo apt get install ia32-libs-multiarch:i386

Let us know please.

My Daughters netbook is Zorin OS6 Core. The Printer is USB attached to my Windows XP box in my home office on my home network. I've connected MY laptop (Zorin OS6 Ultimate) to the network and see the printer with no issue. It just works.

My daughters netbook sees the network and sees my Windows XP box but cannot access the printer?

Hi Jim,

have you first set up your daughters printer with a network cable to the router?, are you using Samba?, check out this thread:

Hi Jim,

have you tried removing everything related to the printer including Samba and the hidden files and starting over?.

To remove hidden files in your home folder, press "Ctrl + h" and then right click the file you want to remove and mark it for deleletion/removal, you are looking for a file that looks something like this: ".samba".
