[SOLVED]Password Sometimes Required in Administrator Account

Here's a newbie question: I just installed Zorin 6.4 [64-bit] in a Toshiba Satellite Pro model P875-S7102 laptop computer. When I installed Zorin I originally used "none" as the login password then later decided to remove it so the computer would boot up & log in automatically as an administrator. This works OK but if I want to install updates & possibly make other changes Zorin asks for a password. The only password I ever used with it ["none"] isn't accepted & neither will it allow me to simply hit "enter". Is there a way to reset or bypass this password challenge or do I need to reinstall Zorin?

One of the "sticky" forum posting instructions asked for a list of memory & software parameters but I chose to forgo most of them in this case because my problem appears to be a set up issue or possibly corrupted data but I'll supply all that I have if necessary; I hope that's not a problem here. Thanks!

Hi,

you must have at least created an admin password, that is what you should use!!.

See this as well:

Let us know if it helps.

Thanks Wolfman! The link you supplied in your reply, http://askubuntu.com/questions/24006/ho ... e-password, showed me how to fix this problem. This is my third experience using a Linux distro &, so far, it's the most successful. Regards.
