Yes, A crazy question.

I need to access my cars service manual which can only be done with IE(needs ActiveX or some junk(wont load in any other browser)).

I currently do not have a windows PC to do this on.

Is there any way to get IE to work with WINE?

I think you can get IE to work via PlayOnLinux. Its the fastest and easiest way for a solution to your problem.

Next option is to install XP or win7 on a VB.

Hi,

see also:

http://askubuntu.com/questions/190425/h ... e-versions

It might work better with PlayOnLinux as MV pointed out!, see supported software list:

http://www.playonlinux.com/en/supported_apps-4-0.html

Can you not download the manual as a PDF or other file type?.

I cannot guarantee it but under Opera you could try:

1.
Tools-Quick Preferences-Edit-site preferences.jpg

2.
Identify as IE.jpg

Wouldnt work.

IE5 had errors
IE6 wanted to install XP SP3
IE7 would just stay at an update screen
IE8 had a file missing error

Hi GF,

there are several other browsers in the repo for you to try!.

In the meantime, try installing the full Mono package (Linux version of MS Net Framework) and see if that helps with your IE install process, open a terminal and paste the following command:

Code:
sudo apt-get install mono-complete

I cannot say whether or not it will help you out; but it is worth a try!.
