[SOLVED] Password confusion

I am confused about the use of a password in Zorin 7 core. If I attempt to update a program or make any changes that require athentication I can type in the password I gave when installing Zorin 7. However if I open a terminal and type "su" it asks for my password and then rejects the same password it accepts for everything else. Does anyone know why? I did a search and found how to use recovery mode to enter a root session and change the password but that did not help. I have used Fedora for about a year now so I know a little about LInux but I still have a lot to learn. In Fedora the same password works for both situations so I thought it would be the same here but it doesn't seem to be.

Thanks for any help you can give, Carroll

I get the same error as you do when -su. But are you sure you are not supped to use -sudo?

sudo works for me. Thanks for the help. I have other problems but I will start a new thread for that.

Thanks again, Carroll
