Hello,
I am very new to the forum and to Zorin-OS. I have downloaded the two free versions, 32 & 64 bit. I verified checksums and burned to dvd. Both DVD's start to load, give the main menu, I make my choice, and thy both error out. The 32 gives the error "unable to find a medium containing a live file system", and the 64 looks like it is loading and then goes to a blank screen with a cursor in the upper left corner of the screen.
When I explore the DVD's in Windows, both contain a text file that has a different checksum value than the one given and verified on the sight.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Best Regards,
RedBaronWCB

OK, what checksums did you get from the downloaded iso's? It will also be helpful to know which Browser you used to download, and also which mirror - was it the direct link from the Zorin page?

Firefox (latest version)
USA (Ibiblio), direct from Zorin Page.
I burned two copies, first set with Windows 7, second with ImgBrn. Same results.
Checksums were verified with Colony West DigestIT.

@ Wolfman. I did indeed. I used the slowest speed available on ImgBrn, which is "1X". There also appear to be no "pin prick" defects on the cds.

Have you tried burning the iso into a USB stick? (Using unebootin or universal USB installer- if from windows)
In case your PC does not have a option to boot via usb, you can create a bootable CD with the iso of "plop boot manager" and after booting via the cd, you choose from the Plop Boot Manager menu to boot via USB.

I suspect ibibiblio might be the issue - I would only use it as place of last resort and if there are any breaks during download you can't continue where you left off!

Please try and download from the site nearest to where you are in the world from these alternatives:

(I have assumed that you have downloaded version 7 of Zorin):

http://ftp.heanet.ie/mirrors/zorin/7/ [Eire/Ireland]

http://mirror.aarnet.edu.au/pub/zorin/7/ [Australia]

http://ftp.nluug.nl/os/Linux/distr/zorin/7/ [Nederlands/Holland]

I downloaded version six, for the long term support. I live in Anchorage Alaska, so nothing is really close.
I have not tried the usb stick. It sounds like it's worth a shot.

Success!!!!!!!

I found the problem. I was burning the dvd "at the lowest possible speed" as per the directions. Unfortunately, there is a "device minimum" speed. I was buring at "1x", thinking that was what I was supposed to do. ImgBrn found that the device had a minimum dvd burn speed of "4x", and burned a DVD. I am pleased to say that I am sending this message from my first Zorin build. This tower was assembled from parts off of the "cadaver" pile, and it's performance will rival a close third of waht is on the shelf at best buy. Thank you everyone for your help. I hope this will help others.
