Printing is very slow

Jaime

Okay, I just remember to ask about this since I just sent this pdf manual to my printer and although the printer still says receiving informationk, it is taking way too long to print. Any idea on this as this is not the only thing I tried printing and got the same slow printing. As you can see it's 16 pages, but mostly text. I think it took a bit over three minutes to just start printing. Maybe more since I wasn't counting.

Hi jaime,

it shows the message on the top left, "This PDF document might not be displayed correctly", on the right it asks whether you want to try a different PDF viewer, did you try another viewer and what is your standard PDF viewer now?. My default is Acroread!.

My default is document viewer. i don't think I saw that option. The pdf files open fine. I did have the higher quality set up and going down help, but still did notice the slow printing before I even tried that on a different occasion. I'll keep an eye on it and see if it's gotten better since I had some updates today.

Hi Jaime,

you can download a version of Acroread from here, make sure you select the "Deb" package:

http://get.adobe.com/uk/reader/otherversions/

Install it even if it says it is a 32 Bit package and you are using a 64 Bit system!. It should download the dependencies automatically if you use "Gdebi" to install it!.

The adobe reader installed fine, but I thought I was using the 64bit OS specifically. Unless there is was no choice from the downloads for zorin which I don't remember now. Honestly I don't mind using the default document reader, but I'll test this out since it looks like it took over.

I have the same 'Printing is VERY slow' problem too. I use Zorin9 Ultimate. I have a Canon MP250 printer (via Computer: Intel i7 8Gb ram). Zorin recognizes the printer, installs the drivers ok. When I start printing, it quickly slows to a snails pace! Any printed document. So frustrating. Has anyone any ideas?

Hi, Try downloading the 64-bit GNU/Linux drivers from here:

http://www.canon.co.uk/support/consumer ... N&os=Linux (64-bit)

Then when you want to add these drivers, go to add printer and search for the downloaded files so that one gets installed. I have one of these:

http://www.canon.co.uk/printers/inkjet/ ... ma_mg7550/

The only issue I had was to ensure that the output is set to A4 - or you get tiny images of A4 on one corner of the page. ;) :D

Also, see my tutorial here on how to get the scanner working:
