Hi,

do you have the optional add-ons installed too?:

Software Centre_057.jpg

Have you tried using another app like Rhythmbox?.

Try running the following terminal command to force an update in case of missing dependencies:

Code:
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade -f

Hi,

it is because you included the words "Select All", you are only supposed to copy the command:

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade -f

Run the command again (without "Select All") and try again.

Hi, your screenshot does NOT match Wolfman's! :D

I cannot see the 'add-ons' which has been 'ticked' on Wolfman's image! :D

Also you need to get used to the new layout (which is the one area I don't like about 7.x) - reminds me of the poor design of Office 2007 'Ribbon' with the tiny arrow to the right for 'drop-down' menus. - Click on the end of the line that looks like a triangle - see if you get options then - if not I cannot help you on this one.

With regards to the applet, always best for it to load first - I have noticed an issue with the Sound applet if I customise the taskbar.

Thank you.
I did the Command again without Code: Select All.
It ran then it asked If I want to continue. I typed in Y as in yes.
It ran a few more lines and finished.
I ran the Sound Recorder again. Still the same problem.

My add-on is checked. I did not capture the screenshot down enough.

I did click at the triangle at the far right, no drop down options.

Hi David,

it might be simply because you are using a VM mode and that is why it won't function, I cannot copy that as I have a fully installed system!. I cannot really help you further as I don't have any more ideas to help you sorry!.

Hi David,

good luck but bear in mind that it still may not solve the problem with that particualr app, there are of course other alternatives to that one app, what is it you are exactly trying to do/copy?.

For narration, like the native app in Windows ( Sound Recorder ) and the narration option in MS Office PowerPoint.

Hi,

try the app "Ardour", to install via a terminal:

Code:
sudo apt-get install ardour

https://apps.ubuntu.com/cat/applications/raring/ardour/

If that version doesn't work in Zorin 7, try adding this PPA:

http://linuxg.net/how-to-install-ardour ... -15-14-13/

I have a problem in installing Ardour.
At the end of installation, this window appears ( see screenshot ), but the Yes and the No are not active. I clicked at either one of them, nothing happened.

Thank you for being patient with me and helping me.
I have concluded Linux is not for me.
I'll stick with Windows.
Thank you again.
