Keyboard layout problems on laptop

Hi guys!

I'm going to apologize upfront for my grammatical errors in this post, but as in the title I am having issues with keyboard layout. Now, I wouldn't call myself a "Techgeek", in fact, I'm fairly new to all of this stuff so I will try to explain my situation as best as I can...

I am using a Dell Inspiron 910, which is one of those 'mini' laptops. It used to have a version of windows XP which recently crashed. So, to save some space I decided to install Zorin instead of re-installing Windows. All went well in the installation and everything seems to work fine on the machine, my problem is using the 'mini' keyboard. Zorin isnt recognizing the backspace, enter, arrows, apostrophes and much more! In typing this I am using the actual keyboard, along with the on screen keyboard. I tried doing a bit of my own research but couldn't find my solution, if there even is one?

Please, any help is appreciated, even if you are just spitballing!

Thanks Guys :D

Hi Maddo,

have you checked the System Setings > Hardware > Keyboard > Layout > Format and make sure that your keyboard language is showing there, remove other languages if listed which will most likely be US English if you are using another language like British English, or German like me, the keys will be different!.

Hi!

Thanks for your reply but I have already tried looking through all of them and none were the right one...

If it helps, there is a picture of the keyboard in the link ( http://www.slashgear.com/dell-inspiron- ... j-0315199/ )

Hi Maddo,

I found this link which suggests using Google Chrome extensions, post #3:

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1506559

The only other thing I can think of is that you should run this terminal command in case there are missing dependencies:

Code:
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade -f

The above command will force update should anything be missing, restart after running the command!.

You can look here but I haven't read through the site!:

It is quite an exotic keyboard so I cannot really comment on much more!.
