If I've got lite installed (either 6.x or 7.x) and want to move to core, can I do that without losing data/settings, etc.?

Thanks.

Sorry friend, but you can't do that. What you need to do is to have an external drive or usb thumbdrive and export your /home folder but before you do, open your main /home folder and press 'Ctrl+ H' - this will show all your hidden files that store your application settings - copy and paste all of you '/home' folder contents into a folder you create on your backup medium. You could try and copy this into your newly created 'Core' install '/home' folder but DO SO AT YOUR OWN RISK! and be sure to install the same applications before moving your old '/home' files - but this could go awry - you have beeen warned! :D

Hi,

you can try the "Something else" method but it may prove fatal, there might be a conflict with certain system files if you try and upgrade from Lite to Core using this method so do so at your own risk:

As Swarf already suggested, make a backup of your files before you try the above.
