OK, the last few days I've ran into several things that asked for "root" password, not the "user" password. How do I get past this point?

Hi AD,

if you only setup the one account when you installed, the PW is the same as the user PW for that single user!.

When I put my username and password in, it tells me that it is wrong, and I only have two tries left before it locks. Why is that happening?

Hi AD,

are you trying to use an uppercase character in your username?. If you are, that is why it won't take your PW!.

The username must/can only be lowercase letters when typing it in somewhere!.

Have you tried:

Code:
gksudo nautilus

and then entering your password?

Hi, I finally found a way, going through the restore function, drop to root level, then invoking root, then passwd. Thanks for the help. Can be marked solved.
