Desktop Customizations

If you have a cool setup could you show it and share how you achieved it?
Perhaps this could become the basis for an entry in How To's and Tutorials.
I read much of "what's your desktop look like" thread and its kind of disjointed;
perhaps we can have concise recommendations including what to do if goes wrong
and needs to be backed out. I saw posts there about things going wrong... windows controls
going away, and some explanations that might not have been quite on target... ie:
stick with GTK2, but then the person said they tried that, etc.
The customizations aren't worth it if they are risky.

Does this help?

I intend to move some of my veoh.com videos to this site (veoh is annoying as:

1. It is geared toward Windows and insists on its player being downloaded - otherwise you only get 5 minute preview!

2. Pop-ups to gambling sites occur.

(And no I won't use YouTube as it is run by Google!)

Thank you very much for your input.
Interesting notes on the hosting.
I'm a noob on the GUI environments of Linux and if you look
at my other posts insanely guarding the integrity of my system.
So I'm looking for well tested safe GUI customization methods
that aren't going to throw me into a bunch of "under the hood" tweaks
or situations that are difficult to back out of.

Pointing me to good instructions on the matter that will work with Zorin
would be welcome too.
