Scaning with Simple Scan

I have scanned a standard document with Simple Scan and the tried printing it.
It prints but at 2/3's the size of the page! It also has an extended tail below the
end of the document.

Why is this?

Man... I am running into too many issues with this OS!

did you click on "Simple Scan" > Document > Preferences > Page Size?:

No I did not. Who would think to set a scan program default to 11x17??
