Disk partitioning question

Hi,

I'm a complete noob to using a Linux OS so can you be gentle on me. I'm attempting to convert from Windows XP.

I've installed Zorin 7 onto a 30Gb partition on my hard disk for evaluation. My NTFS Windows partition is 270Gb but only 130Gb is data leaving 140Gb spare. If I want to provide more disk space to Linux should I .... a) just increase the size of the existing 30Gb partition or b) create a new Linux partition for program installations and data. Can Zorin employ two Linux partitions on the same drive is what I'm getting at?

Thanks for replies.

Recently I wanted to do a fresh install of Zorin 8 RC - I left my original '/home' intact, just installed to '/' (system) this created a new '/home' but it caused issues.

As Wolfman says look at his guide - mine just covers XP and Windows 7:

For best results, choose the 'something else' method of installation:

1. Primary partition ('/') formatted to ext4.

2. Create Logical partition and at the END create 'swap area' no less than 4 Gb - if you have more RAM make it the same size

3. Create '/home' at the BEGINNING of the logical partition. :D
