Install Opera on live USB

Is it possible to install Opera on live usb? I am running Zorin 6.4 live and I can delete Chrome but I can't install Opera or Firefox using Zorin's browser tool. I get a message saying that an error occurred. Do I have to have persistence in order to install anything?

Is there a way to remove the Announcement pain when searching for help and support? Every time I go to the next page I get to scroll through the announcements again.

Yes, you usually do need persistence - if you install to just live it will be for that session only.

I would install MultiSystem 3 from Softpedia - you need to install it to a computer that already has GNU/Linux installed on it. You may need to seek advice how to install .sh files (madvinegar wrote how to do this but I can't find it!). This allows you to create multi-os boot (if your USB is big enough!).

Hi,

just download it from here and install it with either Gdebi (you might need to install that package) or Ubuntu Software Center.

Code:
sudo apt-get install gdebi

Hi Swarf,

yes you can install other .deb packages to a live USB stick:

http://askubuntu.com/questions/174331/h ... l-packages

and:

Basically once the USB stick is running and booted, just install the package like you would any other!.

Hi Wolfman, did not realise that - will it 'stick' afterwards?

Hi Swarf,

it should do as the system is fully installed to the USB drive as if it were a normal HDD!. You can install and remove software and save files like a fully normal OS, you just need enough space on the drive for the extra files!.
