how to add the HP ScanJet 5370C

Typing: lsusb

shows the scanner in the list:
Bus 002 Device 002: ID 03f0:0701 Hewlett-Packard ScanJet 5300c/5370c

But when running the software to scan (simple scan, xsane, vuescan) all three say no device/scanners detected.

open a terminal (Ctrl + Alt + t) and paste this command:

sudo apt-get install hplip-gui

Then open HPLip Toolbox and set up the printer with that, see also the printer section here:
