How to install a Canon MX-350 wireless printer

Hello all, I've used Zorin 6, 7 and 8 32bit. I like how all of them work except for the Canon printer installation problem! I tried a lot of things and spent a lot of time trying to figure it out and have gotten nowhere. Zorin 8 sees the printer but if I try to print something or try to print a test page, the printer just sits there. Am I missing something obvious or am I just being a newb? Thanks in advance for any ideas. Gary

Hi,

go to the above link and scroll down to the bottom and then on download, save the file to "Downloads" (or wherever you want) and then right click and "Extract Here", open the extracted folder and right click the "Deb" files and "Open With" > Gdebi.

They should install normally.

If you don't have Gdebi installed, used the terminal command below to install it:

Code:
sudo ap-get install gdebi

Let us know if this helps.

Hello Wolfman, Thank you for your quick reply! Everything installed nicely, however, when I try to print something, it says: Unable to locate printer "cups-server" What does that mean? Gary

Hi unlocal, open synaptic and see if these packages are present:

If they are (indicated by green-square), try reinstalling and see if that makes a difference - also open a terminal as you have added new software and enter:

Code:
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

Keep us posted! :D
