Unable to install Canon i-Sensys LBP2900

Hi to all.

I can add it as new printer, but I'm not even able to print the test page.
Then i tried installing the official drivers but it did not work. Then i tried following this link:
http://askubuntu.com/questions/232645/h ... untu-12-10

but at the moment I get stuck on this:
2) Register the printer:

sudo /usr/sbin/lpadmin -p LBP2900 -m CNCUPSLBP2900CAPTK.ppd -v ccp:/var/ccpd/fifo0 -E

and I get the following error:
/var/ccpd/fifo0 -E
lpadmin: Bad device-uri scheme "ccp".

What can i do?
Thanks,
regards.

Zorin 7 Lite

EDIT This first post was created when running Zorin 7. Now I am running Zorin 8 but I am still not able to print. However, when installing official drivers in Zorin 8 no need to create such above directories.

Hi maccabbeo, I don't think CUPS is installed by default. Open Synaptic Package Manager (Menu | System Tools | Administration | Synaptic Package Manager) and search for CUPS - those links you posted indicated CUPS - so once you have installed CUPS you might get somewhere! :D Keep us posted!

Hi,

it may be a chance that the following command can force any missing dependencies:

Code:
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade -f

Let us know if that helps.

Where did you get the drivers from?. I recommend you only use "Canon Asia" as all other Canon support websites suck!:

No luck.

Running
Code:
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade -f
gave empty result on terminal, meaning I had no missing dependencies.

I've been instlalling official drivers from Asian website, but it had exactly the same driver version as the European website. However, i installed the Asian drivers anyway but I'm still not able to print: the printer is added, but connecting/re-connecting and either restarting the printer did not print the test page anyway. I mean, the test page job is queued and it is even listed as "completed" in the print queue, but actually no page is printed.

That should not work either since:
a) the PPA is old
b) it seems it does not include my printer family/model (Canon i-Sensys LBP2900)

What else should I do?
Thanks.
Regards.

PS: the above tests have been done on Zorin 8

I think more than enough cups packages are installed. Do you think I should install something else?

Code:
:~$  sudo dpkg --get-selections | grep cups
bluez-cups               install
cndrvcups-capt               install
cndrvcups-common            install
cups                  install
cups-browsed               install
cups-bsd               install
cups-client               install
cups-common               install
cups-daemon               install
cups-filters               install
cups-pk-helper               install
cups-ppdc               install
cups-server-common            install
libcups2:amd64               install
libcups2:i386               install
libcupscgi1:amd64            install

libcupsimage2:amd64            install

I had to remove that ppa since it caused the following error when running apt-get update:
Code:
W: Impossibile recuperare http://ppa.launchpad.net/michael-gruz/canon/ubuntu/dists/saucy/main/binary-amd64/Packages  404  Not Found

More details, please see attached picture showing the error message I got when I try to print a test page after following the instructions reported in your link.

Just found this after refining my search:

http://askubuntu.com/questions/232645/h ... untu-12-10

No guarantees as it was for 12.10 - 8 = 13.10.
