[SOLVED]HP Trackpad "ALPS" Behaviour - Possible Fix.?

Hi All,

I have a pretty new HP Laptop, Model: F0G56EA#ABU
I found out the trackpad is ALPS by downloading the Service Manual.
The trackpad seems to exhibit odd behaviour very occasionaly when scrolling.

I found this in the dmesg log file:
Code:
psmouse serio1: alps: Unknown ALPS touchpad: E7=73 03 50, EC=73 02 02

I did some Googling for the error and found something, which is very similar, and with a fix.?
Code:
psmouse serio1: alps: Unknown ALPS touchpad: E7=73 03 0a, EC=88 b6 06

Link: https://github.com/he1per/psmouse-dkms-alpsv7

Could it be the same.?
I'm new so don't even know if this would even work with Zorin 8?

Thanks - Dave

Hi Swarfendor437,

Many thanks... that looks very promising
I guess a slight variation on procedure between the official site & Ask Ubuntu site.
Maybe the error on ask ubuntu was because on original site they say do it at root.?..
Don't know.

Belt & Braces approach... do an image backup and give it a go...

Hi Swarfendor437,

Followed the link you gave...
Worked perfectly, did need to install "git"
there was an error about something not 'n' found.?.

Now I have:
Code:
input: ALPS PS/2 Device as /devices/platform/i8042/serio1/input/input14
input: AlpsPS/2 ALPS GlidePoint as /devices/platform/i8042/serio1/input/input15

rather than
Code:
psmouse serio1: alps: Unknown ALPS touchpad: E7=73 03 50, EC=73 02 02

Will mark (SOLVED)

Many Thanks.. Dave
