[SOLVED] Increase width of scroll bars ?

Totolanio

Sun Mar 09, 2014 6:40:08 pm

Hi,

How to increase the size/width of all the scroll bars in zorin ? it's really tiny to click on, very annoying for me. It's like 5-7 pixels wide o_0
I tried to do it with mozilla http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic ... &sk=t&sd=a
I think i'd find how on windows 7 but not in zorin (i'm lost in linux), I don't know where to find the CSS file.

And how to apply this to all the zorin windows ?

ty :P

You could try this:

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1946788

and take a look here:

https://mail.gnome.org/archives/gtk-lis ... 00108.html

Keep us posted and let us know what you did! :D

I'm sorry I don't get it.
I could try and finally find a solution but it will take me 2 hours I bet. I'm used to solve solutions without understanding anything at first xD but since you're so so so helpful I'd prefer not to spend all that time on this !

this : http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1946788
I tried to find gtkrc, I found many of them so I guess it's a config file for each GUI's program. I even found one for the theme I use but all those variables, I'm a bit lost.

So I checked the other message
https://mail.gnome.org/archives/gtk-lis ... 00108.html

but i didnt understand what it is about and where I should change the bar width if I made those two config files (in gedit I guess but I don't even know where I'd put it etc...)

I also checked in /usr/share/themes/ZorinLight and didn't find a gtk-bars.css

Can you help me a little bit more ? (sorry :x or else is there a tool to tweak it ? I'm lost with all those gnome, xfce, kde etc... lol)

also I tried this before http://www.vdomck.org/2007/07/change-sc ... refox.html for firefox

But it failed (not same directory and even when trying to put it in, it doesn't do anything)

Somewhere I read that someone had success with this using the Firefox add-on NewScrollbars, (aka NoiaScrollbars).

Found it!

Code:
sudo apt-get install gnome-color-chooser

:D :D :D

[Gives 60 blue jewels to self! ]

It gets placed inside of 'Preferences' in Menu and after changing panels to 32 pixels:

Firefox not uploading screenshot - sorry guys - will do when I get Opera 12.16 back installed! :D

With thanks to Apanta who solved it himself!

Thank you. Gnome-color-chooser worked. The scroll width was under the specific tab.

I already tried it (in zorin lite) and It did NOTHING.

I tried again and I don't understand how to use it :x

I've put the scrollbars width to 32, profile = none
I applied

But nothing happens. Even if I reload mozilla. I really don't understand what this program does, I thought it was incompatible the first time I used it. I'm on Zorin Os 8 64 bits.

But nothing happens.

Hi Totolanio, sadly I don't think it will work with Lite. I will do a quick video tutorial and post back the link! ;)

In the meantime, this should sort your Lite out - Lubuntu is Ubuntu with LXDE!

Where do you set the panel to 32 pixels? i only see icons...

Open GNOME Color Chooser and then select the 'specific' tab - halfway down the interface that opens is the section marked 'Scrollbars' - it is set to 15 by default and greyed out - to activate, checkmark the box - then to increase the size, go in the box and use your up or down arrows - maximum width is 50 pixels.

Is my video too blurry? :D

omfg ! it works lol
I've done the same exact process (on zorin 8) and it didn't work, why ?

Because I had to refresh the page and it changed the size of the button, weird for me because I thought refreshing would only refresh the content of the page, not the UI !

Ah so nice !!! very large bar makes my day now

I'll check for zorin lite or for LXDE later :P

ty once more

Hi Totolanio, got the same issue here but not too much of a problem for me personally. Just had a quick look / browse but not solutions for that aspect I'm afraid! :(
