Firefox Won't Close

I have Zorin 7 installed on my older computer (P4 processor, 1GB RAM). When I close Firefox and try to open it I get the message that it's still running -- no visible sign of it, however. I have to go to the system monitor and close the program manually before I can get Firefox to function again. Is this a bug, or can I follow some procedure to prevent this problem?

Hi I think it could be a Firefox issue but not certain - get the same thing with Opera - I have to 'kill' it in System Monitor.

Quickest way to end a troublesome application using Firefox as the example:

Terminal (Ctrl+ Alt+ T):
