Emptying trash

I have a external 500gig drive a western digital i use for movies and files i want to keep, allso delete files off it when i no longer want them
i have a problem i cant empty the trash on this drive have had a look on goggle but nothing seems to work
New Volume.trash-1000
any help the drive it self works ok
when i plug drive into computer it shows the trash in the computers trash on desktop

I am wondering if then it is waiting for you to empty the computer trash - does it go then?
