Newly Installed Zorin OS 8 No WiFi Connectivity

Hello, I apologize in advance because I know this is the same old problem with a different machine, but after replacing win xp on a Dell Vostro 1000 with a mini card 1395, I have no wireless connectivity.
I am relatively new to Linux so the more detailed descriptions - the better. Thank you in advance!
Here is the content of my wireless info file:

Your wireless card is:
05:00.0 Network controller [0280]: Broadcom Corporation BCM4312 802.11b/g LP-PHY [14e4:4315] (rev 01)

Plug an ethernet cable to get wifi, open terminal and issue the following commands:
Code:
sudo apt-get install bcmwl-kernel-source
sudo modprobe -r wl
sudo modprobe wl

Wait 10 seconds and then check network manager to see if you can connect to wireless netwroks. A restart maybe required.

Thank you madvinegar.
Unfortunately I left the computer at work and will have to try this in the morning.
I am excited to give it a try because I have been wanting to ditch Windows for years at the advise of my IT minded friends.
I will post the results ASAP!

WiFi Logon problem solved!

Thank you madvinegar!

Providing I don't develop additional problems, I plan to replace xp with Zorin on a Dell Netbook, and a Dell Latitude.

Do you foresee any problems with either of those machines?

I am liking the Linux platform so far..

Fingers crossed.

Thank you again madvinegar and I will certainly be looking into making a donation in the very near future.

Glad I helped my friend.

Dell is a supporter and works great with Linux. Dell is one of the few companies that develop and manufacture laptops/PCs that are ubuntu certified.

It is I again...

After completing the install and setup on TWO computers, the third - the wife's is now giving me trouble.

Please refresh my memory on the command I use to reveal the system info needed to evaluate my problem...

I have done a complete overwrite of win xp in this machine but need the broadcom commands...

I tried the commands you had given me for the Vostro 1000 hoping they would work on this Dell Latitude D620, but no luck.

Thank you in advance!

Rick
