On the Zorin website, it appears that Zorin 6 is an LTS version, while 8 is not. I would like to have the most up to date version, but also want something I can install for my clients that will not lose support in the near future. What is the difference, i.e., is 6 based on Ubuntu 12.04, while 8 is not? Seems like this ought to be made clear, esp. for Linux noobs who might not understand the difference.

Fair point! 6 is as you correctly assumed based on 12.04. 8 is based on 13.10. The next LTS of Ubuntu is currently at Beta 1 - hopefully finally released in April 2014 (14.04) which should hopefully mean that Zorin 9 will be available 2 to 3 months after Ubuntu. Don't know if this will follow 12.04 LTS of 5 years or revert back to 3. Zorin 6 will last until April 2017 - so for your current clients, use Zorin 6!
