Help connecting USB Device

I'm trying to use my USB scan tool. When I use

Code:: ls -l /dev/ttyUSB*

I get

ls: cannot access /dev/ttyUSB*: No such file or directory

Can you help me connect my USB scan tool? Thank you.

Hi, and welcome, I have not been overlooking you just trying to find some information about your Engine diagnostic software (automotive) - have I deduced the application correctly?

I think you have some specialised Windows software their that is not likely to run under Zorin or may need special tweaking in WINE.

Are you using Core or Ultimate Zorin? If Core be sure you have the following:

WINE
Winetricks
PlayOnLinux

No guarantees!

Yes, it is an engine diagnostic software with a USB to obd-II connector (auto engineuity). I thought I read that wine does not support USB, so I installed virtual box running windows XP and I still can't find the USB device. I think i need help getting the device into ttyusb. Thank you for your help.

Thanks for pointing out you are using Virtual Box - to get USB to work you need to install the corresponding Extension Pack to the version of VB you are running in Zorin from the VB website:

I am aware that there are 'filter' settings but I do not know how these are used - madvinegar uses vb quite a bit - so over to him!
