How can I Lower Processor use?

I've just installed Zorin OS 8 and out of the box I notice it idles at around 50%-70% CPU use. How can I lower this? I'm on an AMD X2 Phenom 560 clocked at 3.8GHz using 3 Cores.

Perhaps I can stop the fancy animations and such?

Thanks!

Hi w,

what graphics card do you have?.

Update your system with this terminal (Ctrl + Alt + t) command and see if that helps:

Code:
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade -f

Restart and let us know if it helps. :D

Hi, You may also want to add this to your AWN Panel:

Right-click the panel at the bottom of your screen where there are no icons and select 'Dock Preferences' - then go to 'Applets' tab and select 'CPU Frequency Monitor' - drag the icon to the bottom panel in 'Applets' where you want it to appear - if you just click on the down arrow to add it it places it far right where you may not want it! :D
