Hi,

I would use k3b which is a Linux app and it also does a checksum thingy!.

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/K3b

You can use Brasero if you want but I think you must do a seperate file check for the ISO!.

Hi Rother, I don't use Windows based USB stuff any more - my preference is for the GNU/Linux MultiSystem - but you have to have a GNU/Linux system installed before you can use it! :D

http://linux.softpedia.com/progDownload ... 55623.html

To check the md5sum of an iso you have downloaded in GNU/Linux you need to navigate where the iso is then at the terminal (Menu | Accessories | Terminal), navigate to your 'Downloads' folder ('cd Downloads' at the prompt) and simply enter:

Code:
md5sum zorin-os-8.1-core-32.iso

I have used Zorin in this instance, but basically whatever .iso you have downloaded you MUST type in its name exactly as it appears with all the dashes etc.

Give it 30 seconds or so and it will bring back the md5sum at the prompt.

If you are using Brasero, DON'T right click an .iso - launch Brasero first, then choose your image - that has worked best for me whilst using it.

K3b is still by far the best burner for GNU/Linux (it was built for the Konqueror Desktop Environment (KDE) - hennce 'K3b'! :D )

Hi Rother, what .tar file did you download?

All you need to know:

viewtopic.php?f=5&t=5564#p26504

Go to the 'Contents' link in that guide and search for tar.gz - that will take you to the section on how to install all the various packages you can install and how to do it - plus how to repair etc! ;)

Open a termnal and enter:

Code:
./install-depot-multisystem.sh
AFTER you have navigated to where the extracted file is. - ignore the css warnings - a new tiny 'Terminal' window will open to ask for your password to get the installer to run! ;)

Hi,

go here and scroll all the way to the bottom and download the last file and install with "gdebi":
