saving home ?

Say i want to backup my home folder for safe keeping
is it just copy every thing to a dvd or flashdive then reinstall it from there if need be

That should be enough but not necessarily will it lead to 'everything as it was'. To ensure you back up everything, press 'Ctrl+ H' to view the hidden files of your /home folder so they get saved to.
