suggestions for iPod-syncable music/podcast player

Total noob, first post, prior XP (and OSX) user, etc..

Got the latest Zorin installed on an old Asus netbook (replaced the dying HD with an SSD while at it). No problems, runs like a charm. Loaded a couple K songfiles, Noise handles them fine (that's the name of the bundled player, right?) I haven't tried syncing with an old test-mule iPod Nano yet because now that everything seems to be going well, would also like to use this machine for podcasts. (btw, is it possible to import iTunes playlists, to avoid having to re-catalog everything?)

Suggestions? Is there a player that can handle all these requirements? Or should I just look for a separate podcast app -- and if so, what would you recommend?

Thanks in advance,

David

Well off the top of my head I could think of using ITunes, I'm guessing there is no linux version so you could theoretically run the windows version using the zorin bundled installation of wine, or Play On Linux if it's in their DB, it should work but because it has to talk to the iPod through that compatability layer it may not work.
I'm going to try it when I wake up tommorow morning, since it's about 10:35 here.

Hi,

Amarok, Banshee, Rhythmbox and Clementine, don't forget to look at the plugin settings in each of the players which you may need to install seperately in some cases!.

See, I didn't even realize Wine was bundled with Z8 -- thanks. Have seen comments that Ubuntu/Wine/iTunes doesn't work well, but as it often goes, it may just be that you hear about the problem cases most, and not the successes. No point in _not_ trying that first, I suppose.
