hi, When I used to use microsoft windows, the data saved in the D,E or F drive stayed safe while the windows crashed. I would like to create seperate drives in Zorin, say D,E...so that I can save data on there. For instance,if the operation system suffers crash or upgrade the operation system then my data saved on those drive remain safe, thanks

Partitioning is best done at the time of installation. I always create a 2GB swap partition, then a fair-sized NTFS partition (or a number of them) as well as my Linux system partition. One can use Gparted to unmount and resize your main partition if you have used your entire disk, given there is enough free space available for that. http://www.liberiangeek.net/2012/01/shrink-resize-ubuntu-hard-disk-with-gparted/

You will also want to auto-mount your NTFS partition(s) at boot up, you can the ntfs config as below:
https://whitepearl91.wordpress.com/2012/08/04/ntfs-mount-ubuntu/ or http://www.liberiangeek.net/2012/04/auto-mount-windows-ntfs-partitions-in-ubuntu-12-04-precise-pangolin/

An added extra: I always run an external hard drive or flash drive and back up my home folder regularly with an easy chron job in Luckybackup.

This is really basic but it can be done; I am a novice and this is the easiest way I could manage.
